The Women’s Leadership Initiative at Clemson University held its inaugural conference on April 8, 2008 on Clemson’s Campus. The conference had over 120 participants and brought to life the spirit and strong tradition of the Clemson University family. The conference was an opportunity to not only celebrate the many accomplishments of the women in the community, but also to build professional networking opportunities, engage in meaningful dialogue and celebrate the diversity of women.
This year, the conference is scheduled for April 18, 2009 to be held in the Clemson University, Madren Conference Center. The conference will again be open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members including those from other institutions of higher education. Through lively dialogue and spirited workshops, the conference will strive to create an environment of acceptance, celebration and diversity. In addition, the participants at the conference will be charged with understanding their role in the community and the importance of civic responsibility as it relates to each one of us. Participants will be able to explore their talents, skills and visions that can affect social change while building a network of peers and mentors who share passions and support each other’s endeavors.
