Martha Scott Smith, Honorary Chair
Martha Scott Smith is a founding member of Women in Philanthropy and is serving as honorary chairperson of this year's Power of the Purse event. She is the State Director for AT&T-Public Affairs in SC and is an outstanding philanthropist who generously contributes her time and talents to support the causes that are near to her heart including education, children and homeless families. She is the first black female to serve as chair of the American Red Cross board, the SC State Museum board and the Midlands Technical College Foundation board. She is also the 2008 United Way of the Midlands Humanitarian of the Year. Everything in Martha's life from her positions on non-profit boards to her volunteer work with children to her cherished personal relationships is inspiring, and the Midlands community is truly blessed by her presence.
